December is such a lovely time of the year. It even snowed a couple of times this week in my Midwest neck of the woods.The temperature changes have been from highs of 66 to lows of 22 and it is still only fall. I keep hearing that it is only two weeks until Christmas from the media and I have to literally turn that volume out and enjoy because this season is not about being stressed out its about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Granted, Jesus was not born on December 25th, but that is the day we Christians celebrate Jesus’s birth. I have to remember that for me that Jesus is the reason for the season. And over the past two years my husband and I have started a tradition of celebrating Hanukkah. The weather has been crazy this fall, even in the Northeast. It’s freezing today!

The holidays are like a cafeteria plan in that my kids are Jewish and I am Protestant, so we celebrate a little bit of both. In blended families, it’s the traditions that work for your family that you keep. Christmas trees, wreaths, carols, menorah lighting, latkes and gifts from the heart are what the holidays mean to me.
