God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust (Movie Review and Giveaway)

Hello, Elegant Ones

I pray that you are enjoying this wonderful day God has blessed you with.

God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust, premiering in theaters tomorrow (September 12), parallels what we are seeing in this year’s election – the complex relationship between faith, politics, and our civic responsibilities.Click this LINK for more details on the movie and how to get your tickets.

God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust stars David A. R. White (GOD’S NOT DEAD, Evening Shade), Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy), Dean Cain (Lois & Clark), Samaire Armstrong (The O.C.), Ray Wise (ROBO COP), Scott Baio (Happy Days), and Charlene Tilton (Dallas), with guest appearances by Governor Mike Huckabee and the Newsboys.

Amid political and spiritual turmoil, Rev. David Hill (White) runs for Congress after an incumbent’s sudden death. Battling against Peter Kane (Wise), who aims to erase religion from policy, Rev. White’s fight becomes a beacon of hope and optimism for people seeking moral leadership in a divided world.

Check out the official movie trailer here:

God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust is more crucial than ever, especially during this election year. If you haven’t registered to vote, please register and vote. Would you believe that a large percentage of Christians don’t vote? In a society focused on democracy, representation, and equality, it’s alarming that 40 million Christians do not vote, 25 million are registered but don’t vote, and 15 million aren’t even registered. If you don’t vote, you don’t have a say in what’s happening in your world. Please vote! Be part of the conversation that’s igniting hearts and minds everywhere.

This movie shows that no one is too small to make a difference in their community. Remember that it’s God working through us, and in Him, we have our being. This is more than a movie; it’s a movement! Most importantly, this film demonstrates that Christians should be optimistic, excited, and hopeful about the future.

Continue to stand and pray for the United States of America and the world.

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1 Timothy 2:1-2

I like what Kenneth Copeland Ministries said on its website.

“Start praying now about the coming elections. Whether they are small local elections or major national elections, make them a part of every prayer you pray. Then thank the Spirit of God for His wisdom concerning for whom to vote. Thank Him for giving you His wisdom about what to say and when to say it to others. Thank Him for giving you wisdom to declare the Name of Jesus and declare that this shall be a God-indwelt, God-ordained, God-overseen administration.”

“So register. Pray. Vote. Then stand up and be counted by the power of the living God.”

Go see the movie!

Life In Christ Bible (Review and Giveaway)

Hello, Elegant Ones,

With the cooler temperatures, there’s a touch of fall in the air, but the calendar says it is still summer. I don’t have a sweater on just yet, but it’s good to get a break from the heat.

I am looking forward to the fall because my hubby and I are leading a small group entitled The Power of Positive Change this semester. Teaching and learning with the group will be a great experience; no group is too small.

I recently had the opportunity to review the LIFE in CHRIST Bible. This new Bible from Thomas Nelson will allow you to discover, believe, and rejoice in who God says you are. I look forward to using this Bible, written in the New King James Version (NKJV), as one of my new study resources.

Do you know who God says you are? “God has a purpose for your life in this moment. But you have a part to play in what He is doing in the world. Knowing why you are here starts with knowing who God says you are:

You are an image bearer, a worshiper, a ruler, and a cultivator. In Christ, you are known, loved, forgiven, redeemed, reconciled, and complete. As a member of God’s family, you were sent into the world as an ambassador to make Christ known to everyone.

The LIFE in CHRIST Bible Features include:
* A detailed book introduction with identity-related themes and topics
* More than 1,000 chain-reinforced notes that connect 40 themes related to your identity
* 70 articles addressing 16 identity-focused topics
* 100 quotes that will encourage your soul
*17 charts to bring clarity to the God’s Word
*Topical Index to provide greater ease of finding appropriate scriptures
*Translators’ notes and cross-references for greater understanding of the Word
* Reading and Study Plans for focused spiritual growth

It takes spending time reading and studying the Word and leaning on the people in your inner circle. Have you considered a women’s bible study and learning from other women who have not just survived but thrived, who are no longer victims but victors, and who can build you up and tear you down?

The Unshakable Moxie is a thought-provoking and life-changing bible study that invites you to discover what it means to live a life of resilient faith.

The Unshakable Moxie is hosted by Toni Collier (Broken Crayons Still Color) and Moriah Smallbone (The Chosen). This powerful Bible study and 6-episode video series from Our Daily Bread Ministries explores tough topics, including forgiveness, disillusionment, and hardship. The Christian Capitalist (Giveaway Winner Announcement)

Hello, Elegant Ones

I pray that you are having a wonderful weekend.

Today, we had a wonderful time at church. Our pastor spoke about influencing people. In his key point, he stated that our generosity and good works are the most important factors we can use to influence the people around us. When we are generous with our most valuable resources (time and money), people recognize it and will look closely at what we say.

This is also the key factor Rich Sanders discusses in his new book, The Christian Capitalist: The Gospel of Hard Work and Generous Giving. This groundbreaking book explores scriptural references that support two pillars of Christian belief: 1) working hard to make a productive benefit from talents and materials that God has provided all people, and 2) giving generously to share those benefits with our neighbors in the name of Jesus Christ. Through a discussion of Holy Scripture, Sanders analyzes passages that relate to these concepts of productivity and generosity, along with two thousand years of history discussing the good works of Christians as examples. Ultimately, this book develops a uniquely Christian and capitalist philosophy: the Gospel of Hard Work and Generous Giving.

Something To Stand For (Giveaway Winner Announcement)

Hello, Elegant Ones

I pray that you had a safe and wonderful Independence Day.

Amid all the fireworks, barbeques, and parades, I hope you reflected on what it means to be an American citizen. We live in the greatest country and often hear so much negativity about it, so it is easy to take it for granted. Countless people, past and present, have lived their lives to make America what we know it to be.

Something To Stand For is a new film chronicling some of these everyday heroes. Mike Rowe takes an epic journey to the heart of Washington, DC. Drawing from his popular podcast “The Way I Heard It,” you will step on the frontlines of the American Revolution, World War II, the Civil Rights movement, and more.

The Christian Capitalist (Book Review and Giveaway)

Hello Beautiful People,

I hope you enjoy a cold iced glass of tea as we enter full swing into summer. Today, the temperature hit a high of 101 degrees. As I shook my head, my husband saw golfers in our local park. They may be playing golf, but I am inside, sitting in the cool, reading a book.

The Christian Capitalist: The Gospel of Hard Work and Generous Giving – Written by Rich Sanders

I recently had the opportunity to read Rich Sanders’s new book, The Christian Capitalist: The Gospel of Hard Work and Generous Giving. Sanders is the founding pastor of Online Home Church in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. Sanders follows a bi-vocational calling, serving in ministry and business. As the retired President of Southern Health Lawyers, he has practiced law for almost thirty years. Sanders is the founder of Michael’s Mission, Inc., a ministry organized to assist and serve active duty and veterans of the armed services. He is a retired volunteer chaplain at the Interfaith Airport Chapel at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Reading The Christian Capitalist made me think about true success and how we can help others. Do we have a heart for philanthropy? We work hard to provide for our family. However, we must also bless others. “Everything we have is a result of God’s blessing.”

This groundbreaking new book (published in January 2024) explores scriptural references that support twin pillars of Christian belief: 1) working hard to make a productive benefit from talents and materials that God has provided all people, and 2) giving generously to share those benefits with our neighbors in the name of Jesus Christ.

Sanders states that being a Christian capitalist involves giving your money, but you can also give your time. You can help others by serving at church, a soup kitchen, or a senior center. To learn more about your giving, ask God while reading this book and delve into a deeper relationship with Him.

In the interview below, Jean Thomason (of Momentual Influencers Network) speaks with Rich Sanders about the book.
