Our team recently had an opportunity to preview the movie that shares the story of Nate, who suffered a near-fatal illness that left him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. With his will to live gone, Nate is encouraged by an unusual companion, a curious, cute, and intelligent Capuchin monkey named Gigi.
Gigi & Nate showed us that we all face difficult situations in life and that we need encouragement. We may see someone and wonder why they are down and discouraged or acting in a particular way. You may not know how close someone is to giving up on their dream, if they are considering suicide, or if they just lost someone close to them. We don’t need to know their situation or to fully understand what they are going through to encourage them. I challenge you to be the reason why someone smiled today and is inspired to work through difficult situations.

However, many Christian values are displayed throughout in the movie. It is a story that with hope and encouragment from his friends and family and especially Gigi, Nate can overcome any obstacle in front of him. With faith and perservence, Nate can turn his situation around. This movie will have you crying with Nate, but also cheering him on as he goes through his life.

I sit here recuperating from COVID. I know some friends say they can’t wait until their kids start school; I have had some colleagues who have moved their kids into university and were surprised how they didn’t know how emotional it would be. In whatever stage you are in with your kid(s), I remember it was all in the schedule and what was needed for the semester. I remember my mother and grandmother taking me to the store to get school supplies on sale and that Trapperkeeper. Oh, and I couldn’t forget picking out a cool new backpack and going to JCPenney or Sears to pick up a few new outfits. I’m an only child, so it doesn’t take much for me to get excited. I was a nerd then, and I’m a nerd now, so I didn’t have many friends, and I also grew up in a strict household. Anticipating new books, I would learn new subjects, and writing in my new bright-colored notebooks was so neat. Going shopping with my mother, dad, and grandmother are memories I will never forget because I know they were looking out for me and wanting me to have everything I needed when I started school.

A new thought-provoking documentary begins streaming on July 15th on PureFlix. The Case for Heaven is based on the book by best-selling author Lee Strobel, who also wrote The Case For Christ. During the early COVID lockdowns, I participated in a bible study group that examined the book of Revelations. I believe it helped many people in the group overcome the fear of reading this often misunderstood book about the end times. In Revelations, God’s children win, and in retrospect to this documentary, the more you know, the more you grow. Some people in the documentary shared their near-death experiences and how they forever changed their lives. I was inspired when I saw these people share their testimonies and how their lives have changed.
