Evenly Matched: Finding the Ideal Pet for Your Lifestyle

Owning a pet is a gratifying experience. If you want to be happier and healthier in life, owning a pet is something everybody in the family can benefit from. But it’s not as simple as this, and it’s about making sure that you are ready for this new addition to your home. Of course, we can go for a cat or a dog, but any pet is welcome to any family, just as long as you choose the right one for you. Let’s show you how you can choose the right pet.

Think About Your Lifestyle
You might have already thought about the type of pet you want. If you are thinking about getting a dog, you’ve got to consider the lifestyle choices for you and the dog. If you work a lot, can you take care of them during the day or give them that suitable environment? Also, there’s the financial side of things to consider, especially if you need to purchase items like a dog cage, a kennel, a bed, not to mention the extra provisions like food and grooming equipment. The most important thing for you to realize is that it’s not just about the financial aspect but about making sure that your pet has the stimulation they need to live a happy life. It’s important to research the size, exercise requirements, health, and temperament of different types of pets so you can guarantee they are the best choice for your family.

Don’t Think You Know it All Before You Buy
Sometimes, we let the idea of window shopping get the better of us. You might like the look of a certain pet, but this doesn’t guarantee that they are right for you. It’s not just about the breed, but it’s about their personality. And if you’re choosing a pet like a dog, some will have stronger personality traits than others. For example, a Shih Tzu requires a lot of grooming, or a breed like a Jack Russell will need a lot of stimulation to stop them from getting bored. You’ve also got to think about your children’s needs. Many people think that small pets are great for children, but if your child wants a hamster, they are nocturnal creatures, so if your children want to play with them, they will not appreciate being disturbed. Consider what you want, and conduct the research.

Consider a Rescue Animal
Thousands of unwanted and abandoned pets need a supportive home. You can go to many organizations to find pets that you can give a good home to. Rescue pets could be a great choice for a family, as many have grown up, and their personalities are already established. You can go via a breeder, but you need to find a responsible one. You can get recommendations from vets or breeding clubs. When you meet with a breeder, it’s important to make sure that you get all the relevant documentation, such as health screening certificates.

Ensuring that you find the perfect pet for your life is essential, but it’s about making sure that we are a good match for them and are a good match.

JT Style File: Christian Dior Umbrage Sunglasses

Hello Beautiful People,

Happy Spring!

I see people running in the park, wearing only shorts and without their shirts or bra tanks. People may have the idea that we are in summer, but not so fast. It’s only the beginning of spring. I had had to shed my coat a couple of days this week when the high temps peaked in the mid-50s to 60 degrees. Although I’m not wearing my shorts or bra tops just yet, I am breaking out my new Christian Dior new sunglasses. At the rare time I had on the television, ShopHQ spotlighted several Christian Dior sunglasses styles when I saw the Umbrage style. They are so unique and have a style all their own.

The round frame flatters the face. The lenses have a garden design feature that does not inhibit what you see. Brilliant! Here is an up-close view of the lenses so you can see the design feature.

The sunglasses retail for $670, but I didn’t pay that price on SHopHQ. ShopHQ often has flash sales, this day only pricing, or other types of sale pricing. Amazing, I paid less than $70. You have to be on the lookout, and while I was doing this post, the price dropped from $125 to $71. I will jump at the opportunity to get high couture sunglasses for 90 percent off the retail price.

Check out my YouTube video for a closer look at the sunglasses.

The iconic luxury brand Christian Dior took the Umbrage sunglasses to another level because they exude confidence and demand attention. People don’t know what to say when they see me wearing these sunglasses. I feel very fortunate to get this gorgeous pair of sunnies for such a fabulous price.

If you want to look like you stepped off your private jet, these are the sunglasses for you.

How To Try and Lead a Healthy Lifestyle

Your health and general wellbeing are important so that you can try and lead an active lifestyle. It is something that perhaps many of us have learned to appreciate even more this past year due to the pandemic. It can be difficult to stick to a particular routine and follow a strict diet, so finding small ways in which you can incorporate daily tasks into your day that will be beneficial for your overall health is certainly worth trying.

A Good Night’s Sleep
Getting good quality sleep each night is important for your body to rest and recover in preparation for another day. It is the quality of sleep that is important as opposed to how many hours you get. Feeling fully refreshed enables you to be able to concentrate on your daily tasks and remain productive. You are less likely to make mistakes when you are not sleep-deprived, which is certainly vital when driving or dealing with heavy machinery.

Over time, if you struggle to sleep, it can start to affect your body’s hormone, which regulates your appetite. So you are more likely to opt for unhealthy foods and eat larger portions of foods if you continuously function on little sleep. A study that was carried out at the University of Warwick discovered that those that were not getting enough sleep were at greater risk of developing heart disease or stroke.

Drinking Enough Water
It might not be the most exciting drink, but drinking enough water daily contributes to good health. Sometimes we can confuse hunger with thirst, so it is always worthwhile to drink some water first to ensure that it is not just hunger your body is crying out for. Water is essential because it hydrates you, keeps joints working efficiently, flushes out waste from your body, regulates body temperature, and enables your brain to function properly.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine suggest that the average amount of water that men require is around 15.5 cups of water (125 ounces) a day and 11.5 cups (91 ounces) for women. This will, of course, vary if you are physically active too. As long as you are not feeling excessively thirsty all the time, you will know whether you are consuming enough water each day.

A Balanced Diet
Eliminating one food group or following a very restrictive diet where you are not eating enough calories will not be a healthy way of eating. Instead, it would help if you were aiming to eat a balanced diet that encompasses all the food groups (unless, of course, for dietary reasons, you cannot eat certain foods). Ideally, you want to be including a variety of the main five food groups.

Vegetables — Fruits — Protein — Dairy — Grains

Each food group provides a different health benefit for the body. Vegetables are full of various vitamins and minerals and help your immune system to function properly. Fruits are also a great source of vitamins and antioxidants that can help your heart and the body fight off various diseases. Protein is important for your metabolism and blood system. It also enables your bones and muscles to work efficiently. Dairy is rich in Vitamin D and Calcium, which is essential for maintaining your teeth and bones. It can also help reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Grains are important in maintaining blood sugars and providing a source of iron, fiber, and minerals. Collectively these five groups provide an abundance of health benefits for your body to function and thrive efficiently, which is why ideally, we need all of these to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Eat Before You Go Food Shopping
It is a good idea to ensure you eat before food shopping as you are more likely to be tempted by unhealthy foods and not just purchase the groceries on your list, like stocking up on Asian pantry essentials. This will prevent you from being tempted to buy unhealthy foods and spend money unnecessarily on items you do not even need. A study published in the National Academy of Sciences discovered that hungry shoppers were much more inclined to spend money on food and non-food essentials, despite not even needing these items. So it is not just your waistline that can be affected but also your wallet.

Finding Time to Relax
Your mental and physical well-being is linked to feelings of happiness and the ability to relax. This is particularly important when you lead a hectic, stressful life. It would help if you found moments to do activities that encourage a sense of calm and enable you to feel content. Finding moments to wind down is part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Feelings of stress can lead to heart complications, such as increasing your blood pressure or a heart attack risk. So whether it is doing some gentle exercises, reading a book, being creative, cooking, baking, playing a musical instrument, or going for a walk, it is important to break up the day with an activity you enjoy.

Out In the Fresh Air
Finding the motivation to do an intense workout is not necessarily appealing, but it does not have to be a vigorous exercise session to be beneficial. The Journal of the American Heart Association published a study that demonstrated that short 10 minute sessions were adequate to experience the positive effects of exercise. So you do not need to be attempting marathons to consider yourself to be doing an adequate amount of exercise. Just being out in the fresh air in your local park can certainly make a positive difference. When you have a dog, you will probably find more motivation in venturing out so that both you and your pet can benefit from getting outdoors into the fresh air.

COVID-19: One Year Later

Hello, Wonderful People

I pray that you are doing well. Spring is around the corner, and daffodils are starting to bloom.

It is hard to imagine that at this time last year, the world began shutting down, and everything came to a sudden halt. COVID-19 hit like a bombshell and quickly changed life as we knew it. Schools shut down, public events were canceled, and people were told not to leave their homes. A temporary solution to a potentially serious situation would be necessary to keep us safe so that we could return to a normal life.

One year ago today (March 18th), my wife and I started working from home with the anticipation of returning to the office by April 6th. That two-and-a-half-week period has turned into a full year. We are still working at home for most of our time while returning full time in the office has not yet been discussed.

No one could have imagined that a year later, we are still talking about it. We are still under the grips of COVID-19 and still looking to return to normal. What is normal? Thankfully, we see the light at the end of the tunnel. People are now being vaccinated, new cases are going down, and businesses are being reopened.

Without question, COVID has affected everyone, either directly or indirectly. Many people lost their jobs, their livelihoods, and even their lives. We remember and honor these people. While people may disagree about prevention and treatment methods, we all must agree that when life gets back to normal, it will not be the same normal as before. For the first time, people have focused on cleanliness at home and in public. Working from home has become the norm, and with a greater expectation of continuing. Loneliness and depression have escalated. People will love and appreciate their friends and family more after being isolated from them for such a long period of time.

For me personally, I see an increased change in ways that I didn’t think was possible. I started looking inside myself and my life. Working from home had proven to be a viable option for me when I never thought it could be possible. I have attended several online training sessions for personal and professional growth that was never available in the virtual format before COVID-19. I could spend more time with my wife, Seppe, and with our Vinny as he faced the last months of his life.
