Gardening 101

Hello, Beautiful People

Blessings to you!

I have been working on not complaining and looking inward during this time. I know that I am looking at myself differently. May is my birthday month. This year it has not been so much about getting things but spending time in reflection. Looking at what really matters and what is important to me.

On the day of my birthday, my hubby and I ventured out to Home Depot and purchased flowers and vegetables for our backyard. After not going out to many places, it felt good and was invigorating to get outside and planting our annual garden.

The lemon balm and zinnias that we planted last year came back, even though they are annuals and were not suppose to make through the winter. You do not need a large space to plant some of your favorite foliage or vegetables. My hubby and I have a nice size backyard, but our friend from church that has acres. You can take any size yard and make it work for you. For me, I find peace when I am working with my flowers and picking the home-grown vegetables. If you notice I have on gloves not only to keep the dirt out of my nails but just in case I have to move a worm to another part of the garden or yard.

If you are a new Gardner you may want to start out with hardy flowers like marigolds or zinnias. Tomatoes or bell peppers are also good to plant with your flowers or in pots. Bees are attracted to the colors and will pollinate both flowers and vegetables. Whatever flowers or vegetables you decide to plant, make sure after you plant them you water them when they are growing. I use a good organic fertilizer once a month to give that extra boost in growth.

Please let me know what plants bring a smile to your face?

Happy gardening!

Keeping Cool When Hiking This Summer

Whether we like it or not the summer will arrive and we will be experiencing much hotter weather than we have done up until recently. There will always be a change in temperature and we will experience some extreme Weather conditions in the way of hot sun and dry weather. This can be excellent for hiking because visibility is great and we can claim without worrying about rain or fog. The only issue with this is if we find ourselves overheating or dehydrated of course. So here are some ideas on how you can stay cool while hiking in the summer this year and enjoy your hiking experience to the absolute max.

Clothing
The clothes that you wear whilst your hiking can make a big difference to how you feel, making sure that you are wearing clothing that is wicked in and help you with any post Curacion, such as Curves N Combatboots, and that your clothing isn’t too heavy or dark-colored since this attracts the Sun and can help you overheat or burn. It’s essential to make sure that any pieces of clothing that don’t quite cover your skin, is substituted for sun-cream as well, as the UV rays can be quite damaging to your skin. So ensuring that you have Light and comfortable clothing, and you are careful with your choices, means you should avoid any discomfort in the long run. This also extends to hats, since protecting your head from sunburn and sunstroke is essential.

Hydration
Staying hydrated is the key to enjoy on a hike during the summer. There are plenty of different gadgets you can buy that will help you overcome this potential hazard and even backpacks that you can fill up with water and drink as you walk. This reduces the amount of messing around and can save you a lot of time whilst hydrating you. It’s good to take some juicy fruit with you as well such as oranges as they will help with your vitamin levels to. Making sure that you are prepared is the number one priority, so carry on everything you need with you is a great idea.

Route
The route you take when you go hike in during the summer can essentially make or break the walk. You can find yourself in open fields with the Sun beating down, or in shaded areas that can feel much more comfortable to you. Checking out the area if you don’t know it well, asking local people for some advice, and ensuring that you are doing everything you can to provide yourselves and your height can friends with a good route to start with, will save you having any regrets when you are overheating in an exposed area. Sometimes following a river or canal path can help you find a decent route, and at the very least you can splash in the water to cool down if safe to do so. Many people find this is a good way to enjoy a hike.

I Still Believe (Giveaway Winner)

Good Afternoon, Wonderful People,

I pray that you having a peaceful holiday weekend. Be sure to take some time this week to remember the men and women who have died fighting for our freedom. Without their ultimate sacrifice, we could not live in this great country.

The United States and the world have experienced great tragedy during the last couple of months. Almost 100,000 people in America alone have died from COVID-19, while over 5 million people worldwide have contracted the virus. When great calamities like these come, it is an easy opportunity for us to waiver in our faith. When the tragedies and the heartaches come, what happens to our faith. Can you say, “I Still Believe!”

In the movie, I Still Believe, we follow the true-life story of Jeremy Camp as a college student who falls in love with Melissa Henning. Their relationship endures many ups and downs, but in the end Jeremy stood strong and could say, “I Still Believe” Here is a scene early in the movie that shows Jeremy and Melissa talking about going on a date.

Lionsgate released the movie in theaters on March 13th and was the number 2 new movie that weekend. But when COVID-19 forced the closure of theaters, the movie was moved to Digital Streaming, DVD, and Blu-Ray. We recommend the story to anyone who understands the strong relationships require stronger faith. Our full review of the movie can be found HERE! We also hosted a giveaway in collaboration with LEV3L Digital to offer one person a gift package which included an opportunity to win a digital copy of the movie. And he winner of that giveaway is

Victoria B.

Congratulation, Victoria!! YEAH!!
We will be in contact with you to get your contact information.

Watching Your Dog’s Diet

Is your dog eating correctly? If you want to raise a healthy hound, it could be essential that you get their diet right. Here are just a few tips to ensure that your dog is eating healthily.

Consider the age and breed of your dog
A dog’s nutritional requirements can depend very much on the age and breed of the dog.

For instance, puppies tend to require very different nutrients to older dogs to help with growth. For this reason, they may need specially formulated puppy food – adult dog food could be bad for their stomach.

When it comes to breeds, certain types tend to eat more than others. On the whole, more physically active breeds need to eat more – a border collie, for instance, needs to eat a lot more than a basset hound (providing that you’re also giving them the amount of exercise they need). Smaller dogs also require more calories per meal than larger dogs due to having a faster metabolism. As a result, certain brands of dog food may be better suited.

It’s worth talking to a vet about the individual nutritional needs of your dog. If you’re buying a puppy from a breeder, they may also be able to offer a nutritional plan.

Opt for healthy dog food brands
Some dog food brands are packed with unnecessary additives and fillers. It’s important to avoid these brands as they tend to offer little nutritional value (they’re often engineered simply to taste good).

By doing your research, you can discover natural types of dog food. These are likely to have a much better nutritional value. Ideally, a healthy dog food brand should contain over 25% protein and at least 10% fat.

Don’t let your dog eat all the leftovers
You should be careful of feeding scraps to your dogs. While dogs can eat many human foods, too much of this type of food could be bad for your dog’s gut. Foods with high levels of sugar and salt could be particularly bad.

It is, therefore, best to save these types of food as a treat. Just like humans, dogs can get addicted to junk foods if you feed them to them too regularly and may even go off dog food.

Be wary of these toxic foods
There are some foods that can be toxic to dogs. These include:
– Chocolate
– Coffee
– Grapes/raisins
– Avocados
– Onions

Never feed your dog any of these foods – it could be fatal in some cases. Always exercise caution when eating these types of food and ring a vet if you think your dog has consumed these foods (a small amount of chocolate may not be an issue, but a single grape could be cause for concern – it’s worth understanding the toxicity of each of these foods).
