Hi Lovely People,
On this Administrative Professional Day, I am working from home and thinking about the profession. I have heard an article that came out in March in the WallStreet Journal saying the executive assistant position is disappearing. I think that is only true if you let it. It is true the administrative position has been consolidated and transformed into different positions where divisions have decided to not have an assistant. I will never forget the words said, “We don’t have one of those anymore.” My degree is not a bachelor’s in being an assistant. But I have learned that no matter what job you have, it depends on what you put into the job is what you get out of it. If no one is celebrating you and thanking you for the hard work you do, you have to celebrate yourself.
This is a great image booster speech from 2018 below from the CEO of IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals). Please take notes because there are a lot of takeaways in that speech.
Hold your head up and look forward to a bright future. Never stop growing and never stop learning. You have to believe that you are bringing something of great value to the table. This is a good day to look at your accomplishments and see how far you have come. And it doesn’t stop here because there is great growth ahead of you.
This is not about getting flowers or a pat on the back for a good job. This is about what you want out of life. Being an assistant is not an easy job and everyone cannot do it. I hope the people you work with take some time out their day to thank you for all the tireless work that you do. But remember if no one sends you an email or calls you, that’s okay because you know what enormous impact you have on this world and how valuable you are.
If you are working from home during this quarantine or have been furloughed, just remember that you are more than enough. If you would like for me to pray for you, please put it in the comments because Bubblingwitheleganceandgrace.com is here for you.
What should Administrative Professionals think about for the future?
* Taking a course, you may have to pay for it yourself.
*See where there’s a need in your job to shine
Your value does not come from what you do. It comes from who you are in your relationship with Christ Jesus, the Lord and Savior of the world.
“But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere. 2 Corinthians 2:14 Amplified
