The formal night at sea was quite elegant. Almost all of the passengers dressed in their formal gowns, tuxedos or blazers and ties. I do not see many people dress up anymore. Jeans and T-shirts are common attire, but tonight it was a much different story and very special thing to see. I enjoyed seeing everyone all dolled up.
After Dinner we ventured out to the Royal Promenade to listen to the ship’s captain welcome everyone. There were over 5,900 passengers and over 2,200 employees. Wow! That’s a lot of people! The Captain stood on elevated platform, looking out to the people on the deck below. He could look down, while the people looked up to him.
A house band, standing behind the Captain, played a variety of tunes after the Captain finished his welcome speech.
This was a fun night and we enjoyed the opening festivities of the evening.
On the Royal Promenade we found a classic roadster car. I stopped for a quick photo-op.
Oh, your dress is lovely! You look gorgeous; love the makeup and simple, elegant hair. Isn’t it fun to dress up? I love formal nights on cruises.
Thank you for the compliment, I kept it pretty simple with make up and hair.
Yes it is fun to dress up and since this was my first cruise the experience was nice. And I didn’t find out until the cruise that dressing up was an option you didn’t have to if you didn’t want to.
You both looked great. I remember taking my first cruise years ago and dressing up for the captain’s dinner. It was so fun and it was nice meeting other people. You looked very comfortable and not stuffy. It’s one thing to dress up and feel comfortable than to dress up and have that look that you can’t wait to get out of those clothes.
Thank you for the compliment.
So true. Dressing up and feeling tight or uncomfortable is not a good experience at all. That’s why I find out what looks good on me and feels good on me.
Meeting new people was a plus.
That dress is beautiful! You make a lovely couple
Thank you. Do you know that’s I bought that dress in 2008 for a church anniversary. I didn’t want to be buying a lot of clothes and such for this cruise so I wore what I already had.

Oh my! You and hubby look wonderful in your formal attire and your dress is gorgeous! Good for you going all out on the glam stakes for a formal occasion – its nice to see people making the effort to go the whole hog and really dress up for a night! Looks like you had a ball on that boat.
Thanks Veshoevius,
