Friend Friday Focus on Confidence

Friend Friday questions focus on confidence

1. When you wear an outfit that you love how does that change your mental state?
When I wear an outfit that I love I stand taller and feel really good inwardly.  I just know when the clothes feel good and I also look good is a boost of energy.  I can be so critical about how I look regarding my hair, my weight, etc. that I am surprised that I make it out the door. When my outfit is not right it can change my attitude completely when I will feel less confident and not put together.

2. Do you find that the way you dress can help you be more confident in certain situations?

I work at a museum and when I have Committee meetings to attend and I have to meet with our Committee members for the Board of Trustees I feel like an equal when I am in a meeting because I take the time to plan my outfit making sure that it doesn’t only look good but that it’s also comfortable because I coordinate the meeting as well as the attendees.

3. Looking back, have you become more confident in rocking your personal style?
Yes, I was a shy girl that seemed to never feel good enough because I didn’t have the name brand clothes and shoes. I sewed my baccalaureate dress for my high-school graduation and my outfit for church (I went to a Lutheran high school) and I realized I can create my own style. I sewed a vest with my initials that I cut out and sewed on it, it looked so uniquely me and that was great because I have never wanted to be a cookie cutter of someone else.

4. How do comments, in person or on your blog, impact your feelings about a look, clothing choice, etc…

I appreciate comments and they can make me feel good and I like the advice or suggestions when needed.  And I can’t say that if someone said something negative that I could just shrug it off, I am a work in progress.

5. To be more confident, every woman should….   look in the mirror and say “I am beautiful.”  That has been the hardest thing for me to say to myself because it seems so silly.  However, I have noticed that by me saying it everyday it has impacted how I feel about myself in a positive way but I am still working on it.  I believe that in order for me to be more confident I have to feel beautiful inside.

Friend Friday

It’s Friend Friday and the topic is color. I love all shades of color so this is a joy to me. Please check out Katy from modlychic.blogspot.com’s blog where you can see other bloggers share their thoughts on color.
1. Which color do you find the most flattering to wear? Why?
I love red because it lights up my face and is so attractive on my complexion. Pink, peach, green, coral and red tones accentuate my  tan and I love it.

2. What color do you never wear? Why?   I can say that I do not like wearing all black from head to toe.  Black which is a neutral does nothing for me unless I pair it with a vibrant color because the color just brings me down.

3. Do you think there are universal colors that can look good on everyone? I think skye blue or a blushing pink brings out the color in everyone’s face no matter what complexion you are. These colors make you look younger and I know I get tons of compliments when I wear these tones.  In this picture below I have on a pink tunic and it’s one of my best pictures.

4. What are your tips to wearing a color that is not the best for your skin tone, but you just simply love?

If I was styling someone and a color didn’t work well on the person I would recommend that color in an accessory (shoe, belt, scarf, headband, handbag) or possibly a piece of jewelry.

5. In regards to makeup… what colors do you avoid, what do you always reach for?

Since I am more of a tan complexion I have to be careful of foundation that looks to chalky on me because it will show in pictures like someone put talcum powder all over my face.
I reach for Bare Escentuals foundation because I finally found all the different shades to choose from it made me so happy. Also, I love pink and jewel tone colors to add color to my eyes, my nails, and toes.

Friend Friday

 Hi Everyone,

It’s Friend Friday and bloggers are asked by Katy at www.Modlychic.com to talk about some of the beauty products they love.  So here are a few of my favorites.

Have an awesome weekend and a safe Memorial Day Holiday!

1. What are the three products you couldn’t live without?

a.Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation: This foundation makes my skin look so smooth, soft and natural.
b.Bare Escentuals Mineral Viel:  This is the finishing product to my daily routine.  This product is great if you look shiny and want a finishing polished touch and it’s not cakey so you can use Mineral Viel whenever you feel like.

c. Smashbox Lip gloss:  I love the names of the glosses, (Infinite, Forever) and they always feel good on my lips and never dry.

2. Which products do you never leave home without?
Bare Escentuals (BE) buxom lip gloss and Bare Escentuals 100% Natural lipstick
Bare Escentuals (BE) Mineral Viel

3. When purchasing what is your one big beauty weakness?

Fragrance:  I love beautiful smelling fragrance. I have found this great website, www.scentiments.com that offers fragrance for less and I have found some great deals.

4. Do you have a secret remedy, concoction, family tradition that you use?
I wouldn’t call it a secret but I enjoy making my own Shea butter mixture by including certain oils and fragrance.  I use the Shea butter mixture on my hair and body, so natural. I love trying new hair care products and making my own.
My mother used aloe vera on my skin or if I had a cut on my knee  for soothing comfort and today I use aloe vera gel as a moisturizer for my hair.

5. When it comes to your face, what area do you usually try to accentuate?

I love accentuating my eyes and my lips.   If you can’t tell by now I really like the Bare Escentuals mineral makeup and they have some beautiful glimmer shades that make the eyes pop. Also, I have  Elf mineral makeup and their makeup is really good to and you don’t have to pay as much. But what I go to on a regular basis is Bare Escentuals.

I have a lot of favorites but here a few products that make me feel fabulous. I have to say that I love Ojon restorative reconstructor because it has made my hair so much more healthy and shiny.

Fashion Friday

I’m a little late for Fashion Friday, however I still wanted to post the questions to my blog:

What’s your main purpose in blogging? To show my creativity and write about what I love to do.

2. Do you think bloggers should receive monetary compensation for their efforts? I don’t have a problem with bloggers receiving monetary compensation if it doesn’t compromise the integrity of the blog or change the content of the blog. I think it takes away the attractiveness of what drew the reader to the blog. A blog should be created because a person loves to write about something they are passionate about and if a company happens to see the blog and would like to compensate the blogger to professionally write for them it should not change them.

3. What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging? Attracting more people to come to my blog and finding the time to post videos and product reviews. At this point if I only have a couple of followers right now that’s okay because I am doing something that I really enjoy so that’s all that matters and in the long run is what counts.

4. What’s the most rewarding part? I don’t have a lot of followers because I am still fairly new at blogging so the most rewarding to me is putting up product reviews, uploading pics of my favorite outfits or offering fashion and hair tips.

5. What is one goal you have for improving your blog? To do more posting and get on a schedule to upload more videos and pics and product reviews that I love to do.
