JT Style File: Christian Dior Umbrage Sunglasses

Hello Beautiful People,

Happy Spring!

I see people running in the park, wearing only shorts and without their shirts or bra tanks. People may have the idea that we are in summer, but not so fast. It’s only the beginning of spring. I had had to shed my coat a couple of days this week when the high temps peaked in the mid-50s to 60 degrees. Although I’m not wearing my shorts or bra tops just yet, I am breaking out my new Christian Dior new sunglasses. At the rare time I had on the television, ShopHQ spotlighted several Christian Dior sunglasses styles when I saw the Umbrage style. They are so unique and have a style all their own.

The round frame flatters the face. The lenses have a garden design feature that does not inhibit what you see. Brilliant! Here is an up-close view of the lenses so you can see the design feature.

The sunglasses retail for $670, but I didn’t pay that price on SHopHQ. ShopHQ often has flash sales, this day only pricing, or other types of sale pricing. Amazing, I paid less than $70. You have to be on the lookout, and while I was doing this post, the price dropped from $125 to $71. I will jump at the opportunity to get high couture sunglasses for 90 percent off the retail price.

Check out my YouTube video for a closer look at the sunglasses.

The iconic luxury brand Christian Dior took the Umbrage sunglasses to another level because they exude confidence and demand attention. People don’t know what to say when they see me wearing these sunglasses. I feel very fortunate to get this gorgeous pair of sunnies for such a fabulous price.

If you want to look like you stepped off your private jet, these are the sunglasses for you.

Jewellery That Goes With Absolutely Any Outfit And Make Perfect Gifts

There are certain items of jewellery that you can wear at any time or even all the time as they don’t warrant any special occasion or event. These extremely versatile pieces of jewellery make ideal gifts for almost anyone providing you have some idea about their sense of style. Obviously, shopping online for these items is the most convenient way of buying as there is an almost infinite choice of styles and designs and you don’t even have to leave the house! If you are buying for a family member, this is quite an easy task as in all likelihood, you will know what they like.

But what sort of jewellery do you buy as a gift? Well, unless you are buying for your significant other, it’s a good idea to buy something attractive rather than symbolic. Silver is a good choice of precious metal as it goes with almost anything and is usually well received by all age groups. If buying for children or older people, look for something age-appropriate, many websites will have a drop-down menu where you can buy something for various age groups.

Please see below for a list of jewellery that are usually considered safe choices if you are buying as a gift or wearing it for any occasion:

Bracelets – Bracelets make excellent gifts for both men and women regardless of age. The choice on offer is wide and varied and range from chunky solid silver bracelets to dainty ornate pieces that look good on smaller people. Resist the temptation of buying anything too gaudy or extravagant, best to keep it simple for a timeless look.

Rings – Rings are slightly harder to buy as gifts as they are highly personal. This is obviously not a problem if you are buying an engagement ring or wedding ring for your fiancée but for everyone else, care should be taken. Again, something relatively simple yet attractive in silver or tungsten will usually tick the boxes as a gift that is thoughtful yet understated.

Earrings – Earrings are probably the easiest jewellery to buy for yourself or even as a gift for someone. The usual, common-sense approach of not buying anything too loud or extravagant applies, unless of course you know the recipient will appreciate them! From diamond studs for your wife to pearl earrings for your mum or grandmother, there is certainly a world of choice when it comes to earrings.

Necklaces – Providing you know the recipient fairly well, you can choose from a wide range of necklaces to suit all. They don’t have to cost much and in fact, you can get some really quite stunning tribal style necklaces that are certainly on-trend for many people.

The most important thing to consider when buying jewellery is the quality. It should be well-made and obviously not too cheap. It may also be worth checking that the retailer has a comprehensive returns policy, this is especially pertinent if you are buying a wedding or engagement ring and you get the wrong size in error.

Which Style Of Glasses Should You Choose For Your Face Shape?

Glasses come in all manner of shapes and sizes. Some are big and wide, while others are narrow and skinny.

The type of specs you should wear, however, isn’t random. It has a lot to do with the shape of your face. Here is some more information on the styles of glasses you should wear, depending on your face. Take note!

Oval Faces
Many people consider oval faces to be THE ideal face shape. People with this type of face typically have narrow foreheads, more full cheekbones, and then smaller jaws and chins. It’s a structure that looks great, with or without glasses.

The good news for people in this category is that you can get away with practically any style. Wide, oversized frames look great, as do square, wayfarer, and rectangular specs. The advice? Just go for whatever frame you like and will accommodate your lenses prescription.

Square Faces
Square faces start broad at the forehead and continue in that manner down to the chin. Those in this category tend to have full cheeks and cheekbones and jaws that have a relatively flat profile from the front.

Women with square faces tend to have strong jawlines, so many prefer to choose spectacles that soften their features. Round glasses are the most popular here. These have the effect of elongating the face, helping it to appear more proportional than it otherwise might.

Heart-Shaped Faces
People with heart-shaped faces have broad foreheads, slightly narrower cheekbones, and then pointy chins. This facial structure is challenging to buy for, which is one of the things that makes the ideal glasses expensive. People with heart-shaped faces should avoid bottom-heavy frames as this can draw attention to the lower portion of the face. The aim should be to emphasize the middle of the face as much as possible to counteract the narrow chin. Wide lenses work well here.

Diamond-Shaped Faces
Diamond-shaped faces are actually extremely rare. Here, the person has full cheekbones, but a narrow forehead and jawline, combined with a strong brow. Ths structure, therefore, is a kind of variation on the oval, but with a more angular definition.

The best choice for those who occupy this category is to go for rimless, oval frames with a strong brow line. This type of glasses helps you to emphasize facial features like cheekbones while minimizing other parts of the face.

People with this facial structure can also afford to be a little more playful with their choice of frames. Nothing is stopping you, for instance, from choosing cat-eye frames or horn rims for a little added visual pizazz.

Round Faces
The final category of face shape is round faces – or the squashed oval. People with this kind of face don’t typically have any sharp or angular features. Their facial features also tend to congregate centrally.

If you have this type of face, you’ll want to avoid wearing small round frames that mirror your facial structure. Instead, go for more full, more angular frames, especially those that add embellishments at the sides of the glasses.

JT Style File: Mix Match Houndstooth

Hi, Lovelies,

Coolness is definitely in the air but not fully yet so I am gradually stepping into fall. I remember back in grade school, my parents bought me a pair of cranberry wool pants. I could not wait to wear them. When I finally thought I was able to wear them to school, I didn’t know it would be cool in the morning and warmer by the afternoon. By the end of the day, the wool was quite uncomfortable and scratchy. I learned my lesson to wait and step into fall gradually.
After all these years I still must say I am working on my expressions. I really am happy with this outfit. The Isaac Mizrahi Black and White Houndstooth pant is from QVC and I Ilke them. The look is really a Houndstooth plaid pattern. If you really look closely, there is something different about them. The front and back Houndstooth plaid patterns do not line up.

Mixing up Houndstooth

The reviews on QVC are mostly negative because of this fact. I know classic Sewing Class 101 says that plaids and lines need to match up, but I like the nonsymmetric lines in this pant. I think the pants were done this way intentionally. If they weren’t I think it gives the pant a uniqueness and sense of individuality. Should the pant lines in the seams match, according to classic style, yes?  But I beg to differ and go outside of that bubble and wear this pant with my head up high. I can’t tell you how freeing it is to wear these pants because I know what it takes to line up seams with patterns. It would surprise me if Isaac would say anything about the design and why the non-symmetry on air but one never knows. I can say that they are fun and this word is used a lot but edgy too. I don’t care what people think anymore, too much stress to try and live up to expectations that you really don’t even know if they exist or not.

Styling the Houndstooth Pant

I wore a Peace Love World Black Poet Blouse half-tucked because I wanted the pant pattern to show more. My headband is animal print and my shoes by Louise et Cie are plaid and animal print. My purse is the pebble satchel in oxblood. Here’s a close-up of the purse and the patten on the pant.

The pebble leather is so soft and there is a strap for when you want to wear the bag as a crossbody and handles that fold over. Perfecto!

To me, the Houndstooth pattern is neutral so a wide array of colors would work with this pant.

Do you want your Houndstooth pattern or plaid pattern to line up at the seams? Would you wear a pant if it did not match exactly? Please let me know in the comments below.

I really enjoy cool beats so I want to start sharing some of my favorites in my posts. This tune is from TobyMac.

Working Out The Value Of Your Vintage Jewellery

Vintage jewellery is highly collectible and has been popular for quite some time, and you may also have a few family heirlooms that you have accumulated over the years. The value of your collection will depend on the quality of the jewellery that you have, and not what you paid for it!

Here are some tips on how you can work out the value of your vintage jewellery which is especially handy if you need to insure it.

Where Did You Get The Item?
Although it is not strictly a rule, if you were to find some jewellery at a market or boot sale, it would most likely be vintage rather than antique, and as antiques are worth more than vintage, this can help to determine the value of what you have. If you purchased it from a reputable jewellery seller or antique dealer such as https://www.kalmarantiques.com.au/, then you may already have an accurate idea of the value of the item. If you have a piece of jewellery that has been handed down through multiple generations of your family, this could be an antique and so could be worth more.

Examine Your Jewellery

You will want to examine your jewellery and look at what it is made from. You will also want to look for a hallmark, which can give you a lot of information about the item. You will be able to get the metal that it is made from including the purity, you will also be able to find out where and when it was made. The condition of the jewellery will play a vital factor in the value of your jewellery, and if it is not very good, you may wish to consider selling it off for the scrap value of the materials from which it is made.

Look At The Gemstones
You will also want to look at the gems that are in your jewellery and try to certify whether they are genuine or whether they are paste or glass copies. You will want to look at the quality of the stones and researching the 4 C’s can be done with ease on the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) website. You will want to look for any flaws, cracks, or other factors that can determine the value of a gemstone and make a note of the overall condition of the piece. Working out the prices for precious metals and gemstones using the current market prices, you can then get a rough estimate as to the value of your vintage jewellery. If you are still in doubt, you may wish to contact a reputable jewellery dealer and have them appraise your collection.

An Expert Valuation Is Best

To get the most accurate value of your vintage jewellery collection, you are better off leaving this to the professionals and use a reputable dealer close to you to value your collection. Using their service, you will be able to know how much your jewellery is worth as well as the documentation as to its worth if you need to insure it should it ever gets stolen.

However much your jewellery is worth financially, you can never quantify the sentimental value that a piece can have, so to you, they can be priceless.
