We Need Change!

Dear Beautiful People,

My Pastor, David Blunt of Church on the Rock in Missouri, shared some powerful words on Facebook that I wanted to re-share. People of color, including me, are angry, frustrated, exhausted, and hurting.

Repost from @davidmblunt
It’s troubling to see how life can be undervalued due to the color of people’s skin. For years we’ve seen life taken away from young black men and women for just the color of their skin. ⁣ ⁣

Enough is enough. We need change. As Christ-followers we are to love our neighbor. There is so much that needs to be done and we can start by:⁣ ⁣

1. Praying – Pray for God to forgive our sins and heal our land. ⁣
2. Recognize – Recognize the pain African Americans face daily in this land we call “the land of the free”. The life of African ⁣Americans must and should be respected.⁣
3. Examine – Examine our own hearts. Do I have any bias toward someone who is different from me? Do I see every life, every person as a brother or a sister?⁣
We are hopeful that we are in the right position in our hearts for change. God be with us. ⁣ ⁣

Pastor Blunt shares some very healing to the soul words straight from the word of God. If ever our nation needed the church it’s right now. Please watch the video below.

Racism is evil and will always be evil. We need to do everything within our power to end it.

Wisdom For Thought
We have to do our part as an individual and as a community, it will not get any better until we educate and grow. All of us.
I hear people say all lives matter, however, how do all lives matter if black people’s lives don’t?

Say Her Name: Justice for Breonna Taylor

Color of Change

Dear Beautiful People,

I have been really battling with myself on what to say and what can I do. I am frustrated with thinking we are constantly going around and around in circles and saddened by Police taking another person of color’s life.

We have to make a change!

It saddens me that in response to George Floyd’s murder more violence has occurred. David Dorn, a person of color, a retired police captain of 38 years, was shot and killed by a looter in a Saint Louis pawn shop. His killer, also a person of color has not been found yet.

David Dorn, Retired Police Captain

I stand with the peaceful protestors who are marching online and in the streets for better laws in states to protect Black Americans.  Black lives Do Matter and the only way to show that is to speak up and be heard.

We have to make a change.

I stand yelling with a humble cry for ways to educate and make a positive change.

George Floyd

I know many of you have signed the petitions that brought the three police officers to face charges with Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. It’s not over so we have to continue to pray and stand strong.

We also have to take a stand for Breonna Taylor whose birthday is today, she would have been 27 years old.

“Breonna Taylor was an award-winning EMT and model citizen. She loved her family and community. She worked at two hospitals as an essential worker during the pandemic.

One month ago, a division of the Louisville Police Department performed an illegal, unannounced drug raid on her home. Not a single officer announced themselves before ramming down her door and firing 22 shots, shooting Breonna 8 times, killing her.

Not only were the police at the WRONG HOUSE, but the man they were looking for had already been arrested earlier that day.”

The officers have not been fired, arrested, or charged with any crime.

Please sign the petition at Change.org calling for justice. I found out about this on Katy Perry’s Facebook page. She’s right it takes two minutes or less. #JusticeforBreonna #HappyBirthdayBreonna

Simple & Effective Ways To Boost Your Beauty!

Beauty really doesn’t need to be all that complicated. In fact, sometimes it’s the small, simple things that can be the most effective for enhancing our look. With that in mind, if you are looking for some straightforward beauty boosts, keep reading my post below.

Try a new product
It’s easy to get stuck in a rut without our beauty routines. However, sometimes one small change can be all we need to make a significant difference! In particular, look out for a new product that could replace or enhance what you are already using but in a more effective way.

A great example of this is the many serums for skin that are now on the market. This is because they both moisturize and nourish while delivering specific ingredients designed to target article issues such as dullness, dark circles, lines, or dryness. In fact, it is often the oil base of the serum that allows these specific nutrients to be properly absorbed by the skin in the targeted areas. Something that makes them much more effective.

Improve your diet
They say that a six-pack is made in the kitchen, and considering we are what we eat, the same goes for our beauty. In fact, we can radically improve how we look by sticking to a healthy diet.

In particular, that means lots of antioxidant foods such as blueberries and kale. This is because these foods will help to transport oxidants out of your bloodstream and prevent lines and wrinkles. Additionally, staying hydrated on the inside as well as the outside is vital too.

Also, do forget to give sugar, and trans fatty acids a wide berth as well! In fact, sugar can cause inflammation in the body that will aggravate any current or underlying skin conditions such as acne.

Treat yourself to a home beauty treatment
Probably my favorite way of boosting beauty is to treat myself to a home beauty treatment. After all, it’s not just doing you good but can also be a very enjoyable experience.

The good news is that there are many beauty treatments to do at home to choose from. With some of the most popular being face or hair masks that contain only everyday household ingredients. Whether you opt for an egg or mayonnaise mask for your hair or a homemade face mask, you’ll get some good results.

Move your body
Yes, that’s right; moving your body can absolutely help boost your beauty. We’re not talking about trying to lose weight to conform to some unrealistic beauty standards either. In fact, when we do aerobic exercises like running, dancing, or a fitness class, it causes our bodies to sweat.

This is actually a great way of getting rid of any nasty toxins in the skin. Additionally, by working out, you can improve circulation and get plenty of oxygen to your skin. Therefore if you want to boost your beauty, working out regularly is a must!

Finally, don’t forget that when exercising, the skin is being worked out as well. Something that helps it to keep its elasticity and therefore, can help prevent wrinkles and fine lines!

Gardening 101

Hello, Beautiful People

Blessings to you!

I have been working on not complaining and looking inward during this time. I know that I am looking at myself differently. May is my birthday month. This year it has not been so much about getting things but spending time in reflection. Looking at what really matters and what is important to me.

On the day of my birthday, my hubby and I ventured out to Home Depot and purchased flowers and vegetables for our backyard. After not going out to many places, it felt good and was invigorating to get outside and planting our annual garden.

The lemon balm and zinnias that we planted last year came back, even though they are annuals and were not suppose to make through the winter. You do not need a large space to plant some of your favorite foliage or vegetables. My hubby and I have a nice size backyard, but our friend from church that has acres. You can take any size yard and make it work for you. For me, I find peace when I am working with my flowers and picking the home-grown vegetables. If you notice I have on gloves not only to keep the dirt out of my nails but just in case I have to move a worm to another part of the garden or yard.

If you are a new Gardner you may want to start out with hardy flowers like marigolds or zinnias. Tomatoes or bell peppers are also good to plant with your flowers or in pots. Bees are attracted to the colors and will pollinate both flowers and vegetables. Whatever flowers or vegetables you decide to plant, make sure after you plant them you water them when they are growing. I use a good organic fertilizer once a month to give that extra boost in growth.

Please let me know what plants bring a smile to your face?

Happy gardening!
