I don’t straighten my hair much because I do not want to use a lot of access heat and it takes a lot of time. My hair is thick and it takes awhile. However, it was time for a length check. It’s been six weeks since I have straighten my hair. When I have straightened my hair it did not feel smooth when I was finished so I still couldn’t get a comb through it.
Prepping before flat ironing is essential.
When I say prepping I mean what I do before I flat iron. My hair needs to be somewhat straight from blowdrying. In a future post I will go over what products I used and how I prepped, styled and flat ironed my hair. I wanted to focus this post on a length check.
Length check is a way to see if I have any split ends that I need to clip and a good way for me to see how healthy my hair looks. While I am transitioning I only trim split ends which I have not had many. The key is making sure deep conditioning is in my routine every time I wash my hair. Since I have not had a relaxer in two years and three months, the thickness has quadrupled and I love it.

After I finished flat ironing I didn’t have to trim my ends. I only trim my ends when they need it.
The next Hair Diaries I will discuss the process and what products I used to flat iron my hair.

Loving my Madden Girl boots from DSW. I was looking for a riding boot but did not see anything worth buying. Then my eyes went toward these boots.
The boots are actually faux leather so they are great in rainy weather. The price was awesome too at $55.00.
A pair of leather cowboy boots can be over $150 depending on the detail and the brand.
This was a beautiful day and quite windy so it was awesome to rock my Madden Girl boots.

I love fall and my hubby and I was running some errands this past weekend and saw these gigantic mums from afar in vibrant colours. We had to stop and take another look and the mums just so happen to be 3 for $18 at this local nursery. This was a weekend of great deals!
The mums we had bloomed in April and our yellow mums unusually bloomed the whole summer so this is a good year for mum planting.

Tip
A mum is a perennial so if you want it to last year after year you have to take it out of the pot it came in and plant it in the ground. Cut the leaves once the entire plant turns brown around December or so.
