JT’s hubby
My hubby and I have really been focusing on eating healthy; and we really enjoy what we cook. We have incorporated fresh vegetables and fruit into our regime and we have so much more energy. It is springtime and even though there may be some warm days, it can be downright cold. We are looking at recipes for soups, low-carb casserole dishes, chili and chili con carne.
Comfort food is often associated with high calories and meals that will pack on the pounds; but that is just not entirely true. When I was a little girl, my mother would cook greens. I remember a combination of mustard, turnips and collard greens with ham shanks for seasoning and flavor. She would use a variety of other seasonings, like the ones from Schwartz, to top it off. My mother and I would also bake cornbread in a cast iron skillet to go with the greens. That was comfort food at its best. Some may not consider the greens healthy because of the ham shanks. The ham shank was and is used for seasoning, but we never ate it. Well maybe my daddy would eat a piece of the ham shank with his greens.
Comfort food can be full of flavor and still low in fat. It may take a little time to look for different dishes on nutritional guidelines; but in the end it will be worth it. One of the keys for my hubby and I is to eat tons of vegetables each day. The more vegetables on our plate the better, portion control is a key. Sometimes I have realized that I can have to much of a good thing. When eating those vegetables, meat or fish there’s no need to load up on butter and oils for flavor instead we add different seasonings and fresh herbs for flavor.
It takes discipline and the benefits are so good.

Getting ready for church this morning and I realized my hair is still wet from my twist out. What is a girl to do? I washed my hair last night, detangled, conditioned and had six twists on each side of my head. Ready to be styled in the morning. Well, I had let my hair air-dry last night; but my hair is quite thick. This morning my hair was not dripping wet; but it was damp.
Again I say, What am I to do?
Thoughts in my head of wearing a cap, but it is way too warm for that today. Maybe I could wear it up and no one would never know that I didn’t get the soft lustrous curls that I wanted.
What did I do?
I untwisted my hair added some Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk and styled it to the best of my ability. As you can see in the photo below, this is naturally me.

I am not fond of hair shrinkage; but I said to myself, “This is who I am, so people can take it or leave it.” A few years back, I would of never had worn my hair in this style. It was always straightened either with a pressing comb or by a relaxer. Almost four years ago, I decided to go relaxer free. I had to learn how to style my hair and find out through trail and error what products work best for my texture.

Here I am, hair shrinkage and all. My hubby was constantly saying that he thought it was cute; but all I could think about was how short it looked.
But you know what, I went to church and got received several compliments.
My hubby said, “Is it better hearing it also from someone else?”
I said, “No.” But his comment made me think that I have to be fine with myself.
God’s word says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
God made me and He gave me curly hair and I have to love me some me. If I do not love myself; how can I show love to anyone else.

I find that the times when I don’t think I look my best are the days that I get the most compliments. Here I am talking about the shrinkage in my hair and a lady today said to me that she would have to pay to get hair like mine, meaning she would have to buy a curly wig. Go figure?
But the tidbit of advice to remember: Compliments are great; but if there are no compliments, you have to feel that self love inside that you know that you are beautiful.

My hubby is a wonderful guy and the love of my life. However, he is picky when it comes to clothes and he should be because he wants to look on trend and stylish.

Hubby relaxing
My hubby loves to dress up and look really nice and I must say I really admire that quality in him. He takes time to look good for himself and also for me.
I also think that he looks put together when he’s in casual attire as well.

I wanted to share some cool pieces from Just Rhyse at Defshop.com that I think my hubby and other men would feel good wearing because it is casual but it will also give off a chicness at the same time.
JUSTRHYSE
“this is pure urban
fashion from just rhyse.
get it. wear it, relax.
now, you’re dressed.”
You can be fashionable and comfortable.

Just rhyme gain zip hoody in grey blue
This hoody is cool but it does not look like this guy is going to mow the lawn. He looks like he is going somewhere; whether it is to the mall or run around town. The pops of color along the piping trim, strings and sleeves gives the hoody an edge above the rest.
My hubby would definitely wear this jacket. Such a great look for men’s casual wear. I love the color blocking and this jacket could be worn with a button down or a T-shirt.

Just Rhyse collegiate jacket
Hubby will not wear completely ripped jeans; but I know he would wear these hot commodities below.
The jeans look lived in with out looking weathered, sheer classic. In the picture the jeans are paired with tennis shoes, but I know my husband would wear boots with them.

Just Rhyse loose fit jeans
My hubby hearts boots.
I am adding in this jacket because I really like the assymetrical zipper, a twist on the vertical zipper .

Hello Elegant readers,
It snowed all day today and it is so beautiful.
A great time to workout using the Brazilian Butt lift. This is a serious workout from Beachbody and is a lot of fun.

The workout is easy to follow, just be mindful that you will be dancing in this workout . My muscles feel tighter and more tuned. I really like the moves. Leandro, the instructor, is very energetic and enthusiastic. The workout includes
Qvc.com explains so well what the set includes:
- Includes three DVDs, Triangle Training workout cards, makeover and nutrition guides, measurement tracker, tape measure, and three bands
- DVD 1: Basics, Bum Bum, and Bum Bum Rapido; run time approximately 1:30
- DVD 2: High & Tight and Sculpt; run time approximately 1:40
- DVD 3: Cardio Axe and Tummy Tuck; run time approximately 1:00
At this stage, I like to keep toned and shock my body with various different exercises. I highly reccomend these workouts because I know I feel tighter in my thighs and “bum bum”, as Leandro would say. These workouts can be done at a variety of intensity levels, based on the instructions that Leandro. Whether you are a beginning or an experienced exerciser, you do not need to shy away from these workouts. Leandro will provide you with the workout level that you need.

Hello Elegant readers,
I enjoy wearing skirts — short, long, pencil or full — I wear them all. Above I have on my Badgely Mischka skirt because it is still feeling like winter. However, spring temperatures are on the horizon so I was looking for some really feminie pretty skirts and dresses. I found some really cute choices.
The dress in the photo below is so different and unexpected. I love the different prints. It will definitely turn some heads and will garner some attention and questions, I am sure. This look is so modern.

DefShop.com has many real pretty skirts that are perfect for spring and summer. The Vero Moda Lightning Mini skirt in bluebird looks so fresh and feminine. I could see this skirt with a T-shirt or a crisp white shirt with a light weight cotton scarf around my neck.

The Desigual Luisette Skirt in Free Green is so feminine and makes me smile, I think it’s gorgeous.
Look at how the colors build from teal to pinks and yellows. The skirt is A-line and is flattering to every figure.

Oh my goodness the design below is so pretty in this Desigual Tisdal skirt in Cognac. I could rock this skirt all year long I would change it up with the seasons, sandals and wedges in the spring and summer and boots in the fall and winter. This skirt is a chameleon because it has so much versatility. I would shock by adding a pink short sleeve shirt with this skirt and tan wedges in the spring when it gets warmer.

The skirt below is a burst of color that just makes you dream of sitting on the beach watching the relaxing waves go by. The Desigual Fionna Skirt in Storm Grey has a design that would make me stand out from the crowd. I could wear any color with this skirt and it would be oh so pretty.

I think every woman should get a new skirt for their spring and summer wardrobe.
Do you like to be different and not look like a carbon copy of everybody else? Well, I must say that I like to be different; so finding these cool skirts and dresses you can buy at DefShop.com is a plus for me because the styles are so unique.
