What Does Your Wellness Routine Need Right Now?

Do you have a wellness routine? Maybe not – it’s not something people think about a lot. You have a normal routine that gets you through the day, yes, but at the same time, you’re committing to a wellness routine that keeps you feeling good throughout the day.

After all, you have snacks to keep you energy up, and you drink water when you get a headache, and you go to bed at the same time every night – these are all big parts of wellness! However, your wellness routine might need a bit extra padding right now. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you out here with the points listed below.

More Hydration
Being hydrated is very important. When your body has enough fluids, you’ll think clearer, find it easier to move, watch your skin become softer, and you could even sleep a lot better. Which means it’s time to drink a bit more water, and get plenty of fluids in throughout the day.

However, one of the best ways to start your day is to drink at least one 8oz glass of water right after waking up. If you find this works for you, and you want to commit to this a bit more, drink 2 glasses, and squeeze a bit of lemon juice into each glass.

A Supporting Supplement
Supplements can do a lot for your body when you can’t quite balance your diet right. Don’t worry, not a lot of people can! It’s good to eat when you want, and then eat the foods that’ll give you enough energy and make you feel good, but sometimes our meals aren’t as nutritious as we’d really like them to be.

And that’s where a supplement comes. Whether you need Vitamin A, B, C, D, etc., or Omega-3, or you just want to get your hands on some CBD gummies for sale, make sure you know the guidelines around recommended amounts for a healthy lifestyle. Take them in the morning or at night, and after a couple of weeks, see how you feel.

More Time Being Active
So, you need to spend more time being active, but what’s the best way to do so? Well, being active, at a high intensity, for about 30 minutes 3 times a week, is the best way to get your much needed exercise in. After all, it’s much easier to carve out 30 minutes than it is to spend a couple of hours at the gym!

Not only will this aid with weight loss, if you feel you need to shed pounds, but it’ll ensure your muscles stay supple and your digestion works to the best of its ability. You’ll also get some much more quality sleep!

Your wellness routine might need a bit of work. Think a bit more about it, think about how you feel, and try to fill in the gaps. You deserve to commit to a bit more self care right now, so don’t put it off!

How To Choose The Best Dog To Join Your Family

If you’ve decided that the time is right to buy a dog to add to the family, it is very important to do a lot of research first, so you can be sure that you are bringing the right dog into your home. If you have young children, this is even more important, as it will be essential for you to prioritize taking on a dog that can behave safely around children. Here’s how you can make sure you choose the right dog to join your family.

Look Into Child-Friendly Breeds
The temperament of the individual dog is obviously very important if you are bringing a dog into a house with children, but you can start on the right tracking by choosing a breed that is has a reputation of being better with children. You need a dog that will be friendly, patient, tolerant, and good with loud, sudden noise. A playful dog is also likely to do well with young children in the house. Retrievers (especially Golden and Labrador) have always had great reputations as family dogs, thanks to their loyal, devoted, easy-going natures. Newfoundlands, beagles, boxers, and bulldogs also have a reputation for doing well with children.

You should also consider a breed that a child will be able to handle themselves. If you want the children to be the ones who walk the dog, for example, then you shouldn’t choose a large, strong breed, as they won’t be able to control it without your help. You might have always wanted a husky, but this strong dog can’t be walked by a young child. Instead, choose a trainable, smaller breed. Dog harnesses give more control than a standard lead, making these a good option for kids walking dogs. Training also helps to teach your dog to walk well on the lead, so look into puppy training here.

Miniature breeds like toy poodles are not ideal dogs for homes with young children. You don’t want too small a dog, as they may not respond well to the rough play from excited kids and are more likely to be hurt accidentally. A dog that can handle some rough play is a better choice.

Choose A Breed That Suits Your Lifestyle
As well as a dog that will live well with your children, you need to think about choosing a dog that will fit in with the lifestyle of your whole family. If you’re a family who loves to keep active and spend your weekends on activities like walking and cycling, you can take on a more active, energetic dog, like a Collie, as they’ll get the exercise they need. If, however, you’re busier and work long hours, you need a dog that is happier to stay inside alone, like a bulldog. All dogs need a good walk every day, but some breeds need a lot more exercise than others. If you buy a dog that needs hours of exercise every day, and you only have time for a quick walk on a weekday, and a longer walk at the weekend, the dog won’t be happy. Remember that a dog is for life, and needs to fit in with your routine.

How much space do you have available for a dog to run or play in? A large dog won’t fit well into apartment life, for example, and will need a large garden to run around in to keep their energy levels under control. If you have a small house, pick a smaller, less energetic dog, so it won’t take up the entire house or take out all your ornaments when it tries to play.

Consider the climate you live in too. For example, if you live somewhere where the weather is generally hot, you’ll want to avoid a dog with thick fur, like a Newfoundland.

Think About Age
It might seem obvious to get a puppy as your first dog, but if you have very young children in the house, a puppy might not actually be the best choice. Puppies need a lot of care which takes up a lot of time, and they can be a lot more prone to nip small children until the puppy has been properly trained. If you’re already up at night with a baby, you don’t want to add a puppy who cries at night too and needs hours of dedicated training time. Puppies use their teeth in play until they learn that it hurts, so don’t get a puppy if your children will be upset by this.

You also want to avoid very old dogs. They’ll be harder for you to train if they’re set in their ways and will have a lot less patience for the rough and tumble of living with younger children. If the children don’t understand that an older dog doesn’t like loud noise or rough play, you run the risk of the dog becoming agitated or even turning aggressive. You’ll also want to avoid bringing home a dog that is already very old and won’t live very long, to put off the inevitable upset children when the dog dies. With a younger dog, you should get a good few years together before you have to face the problem of losing it.

Choosing a family dog is an important choice. Do your research and get a good idea of the temperament and age you’re looking for, and a shortlist of breeds you think would be suitable. To choose the individual dog, speak to the breeder or rescue you intend to use and discuss your needs with them. Whether you need a small, quiet dog to live in an apartment but can live well with toddlers, or you need an energetic, playful dog to join your teenagers on their daily runs, the breeder or rescue can help to match you to a dog with the right kind age, temperament, personality, and needs. Take their advice and be prepared to learn, so you can give the dog the best possible home.

Styling Kamala Harris’s Vogue Cover Shoot

Hi Elegant Readers,

Happy New Year! I really enjoy saying that. It’s still the beginning and the best year you’ve ever had right? Receive that!

I heard from one of my coaches that Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is on the cover of the February 2021 issue of Vogue and the response is 50/50. The images below are cover shoots for digital and print.

What are your first reactions when you see these images of VP-Elect Harris?

February 2021 Vogue shoot Vice President elect Kamala Harris

It appears to me that she is trying to be relatable to the people and and offer a familiar look. I think I have always seen her in a pantsuit. It is a very professional and polished look. Her out of the box moment is pairing the pantsuit with converse sneakers.

Hmmm, my first thought was what was going through the stylist mind and what did her entourage have a say in this photo shoot. Well, I heard that she did not have a stylist and she styled herself.

Los Angeles magazine titled their January 11th post, “People Are Up in Arms Over VP-Elect Kamala Harris’s Too-Familiar February Vogue Cover“.  Whew that’s a long title don’t ya think?

I can go on and on, but let’s face it. No matter what level of the ladder you are at, people are look at you and what you wear is a science.

I would have loved to have seen VP-Elect Kamala Harris styled different. Maybe a tweed suit or a pencil skirt instead of pants. Or a fabulous moment like a dressy elegant evening gown with sneakers and another photo with heels side by side set in the Vice President’s office as the background or her standing in front of the White House. Kudos that the photographers where of African descent, however, this woman has made it as the first African descent VP-elect and my mind is so out of normality and I am just like you kind of moment.

I want to show how I would have styled VP-elect Harris. It doesn’t have to take her all the way out of her comfort zone but it can push her a little to take chances.

Amal Clooney is a Lawyer and has mad style. Chanel is timeless and I think styling VP-elect Harris in a Chanel suit with tons of pearl and chain necklaces would of been oh so fab.

My style choices for VP-Elect Harris would stretch her limits and she may tell me she just can’t do it but I would hold my ground and say step outside of the box.

I think people would say wow I have never seen VP-Elect Harris in anything like that, she’s beautiful. Familiarity is okay at a time and I understand that. However, she is now the VP-Elect and style choices can change. The sky is not the limit so I expect to see style changes in VP-Elect Harris’s future. I am interested to see what she wears at the Inauguration ceremony. Not sure if they are having any virtual galas in the midst of a pandemic and if they are, will Harris dress up for it.

Interesting fact, Melania Trump has not been on the cover of Vogue during the last four years, despite being a former fashion model and the current First Lady.

Have you changed your style in different seasons of your life? If so, how? We all change are style choices but we can still maintain who we are as a person and remain humble.

Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hi Elegant Readers,

Today we celebrate and honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., and how his legacy is relevant today. We as Americans are so divided and unity is needed now more than ever.
What we need now is love. Love, you say? Yes, we need to show love because so much hate is being driven through social media. Do we bury our heads in the sand like nothing is happening? No, but we cannot filter in the garbage in day in and day out without getting depressed, complacent and overwhelmed. Is all social media bad? No, but we really have to be selective of what we see and hear.
What do you think Martin Luther King would say today? Would he still think there’s a dream?

MLK in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, August 28, 1963. The purpose of the march was to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans.

The reflection we see in the mirror is where it starts. What are we doing for ourselves to make that change. No matter how big or small, what are we doing to make a difference?

Right now some people are traveling but many are not, take a look at the 360 view of the Martin Luther King memorial in Washington, DC. Give us your thoughts of what you are feeling as you watch.

As a people we don’t run from a challenge we get energize and fight for love in the trenches. I think having a life of meaning we come keep Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream alive in each of us.  You may disagree with Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech but I say how can you disagree with loving one another no matter what our differences.

As a part of our church my hubby and I are going through 21-days of prayer and fasting and we are on day 8, and it’s amazing how you can see more clearly and a time to reflect and see what really matters.

How do you want to show love in the world?

Compelling Reasons To Consider Hiring A Nanny

A nanny could be the answer to the problem of your busy life getting busier. Living in a city often means that parents will need to continue to work after the birth of their children, and that can cause childcare headaches. Hiring a nanny will solve that issue and lead to a happier family.

Hiring a nanny will give you complete peace of mind. As they say, a happy parent means a happy child, but can you truly be happy when you are rushing here and there, constantly worried that you are missing out on important deadlines and time with your child? When you contact a nanny agency, all those worries can disappear. You will be able to concentrate on your work and be more productive knowing that your children are well looked after. And then, when you come home, you will be more relaxed, less stressed, and able to spend more time with your children. It’s the ideal solution, and everyone will be happier for it. Working hard and trying to maintain a work-life balance can lead to guilt and stress, and that is not the way to live. Hiring a nanny can make such a difference to your life – and the lives of your children.

Using a nanny agency makes things even better. You can rest assured that the nanny you hire is completely qualified, stringently vetted, and perfectly trustworthy when it comes to your children. You will know that they are in safe hands.

Nannies Have Expertise
Nanny services are so important to so many people, offering them the kind of stress-free life that everyone needs and deserves. They can make a huge difference in how a family is able to spend time together, and provide relief to an otherwise incredibly busy life.

One of the biggest benefits of hiring a nanny is that they will have plenty of expertise and experience when it comes to babies and young children. Some also have specialist expertise, for example, caring for children with hearing difficulties, which you can learn more about online.

This can truly ease the worry of first-time parents, as well as parents of multiple children since each child is unique and has different needs. Parents often worry about how well they are looking after their children, especially if there is something wrong or they are unwell. In many instances, parents turn to Google and the Internet to find out the answers to their burning questions, but this is not necessarily the best way to go about things. The Internet is full of useful information, but also full of errors, and it is sometimes impossible to work out which is which.

A nanny from a professional nanny agency, however, will have many of the answers. And these answers will come from first-hand experience, which is the best way to learn. Your nanny will instantly know how to deal with any situation that is thrown at them, and that means you can have the ultimate peace of mind when it comes to your children. This is every parent’s wish.

A Nanny Will Allow Your Child To Rest
A nanny will be able to do many things for you. It all depends on the kind of contract you have with them, and what you expect of them. Between the both of you, you should be able to organize a scope of work that you are both happy with. One thing this will enable your child to do is rest, as you will discover below.

Your job may mean that you have to get up incredibly early to get there on time. Or, perhaps you don’t have to get up very early for work particularly, but you have to take your children to nursery, which adds a chunk of time onto your day? But, what if you had a nanny?

Having a nanny at home would mean that you could sleep for longer since you don’t have to make an extra trip to the nursery. It also means that you can come straight home from work, rather than travelling to the nursery to pick your child up. You might save an hour, or even two. And if this idea seems good to you, imagine how it might feel to your child. Even if they enjoy nursery, having a nanny will mean they can rest for longer in the mornings, or go to bed at a more sensible time in the evenings (or even both).

Many parents who work late find that they keep their children up later in order to see them for longer. But if the child does not need to get up so early in the morning, then it can be done on occasion without too many adverse effects.
