Wordless Wednesday: Go St. Louis Cardinals!

JT in her St. Cardinals hoodie

This is a not so wordless Wednesday; because I wanted to tell my story of how I got such a good deal on this hoodie. I don’t own many hoodies but I wanted a St. Louis Cardinals hoodie to support my favorite team. I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money.  Well my hubby and I went to Macys’ about a couple of weeks ago and we were getting him some socks. I just so happen to go to a rack with this hoodie and it was in my size. Meant to be! I was able to get this hoodie for  more than 50% off the retail price.

For a hoodie it’s not bad at all. I wore it  and felt good  in the shoes. The purchase definitely worth it.

The Cardinals are  playing today so I have to root for my team.

All About The Dress!

I am going in and out of summer and fall clothes because the weather is fluctuating.  As I have said many times, when the weather is up and down; layering is a sure winner in my book. Today started out chilly, in the 40s. I wore my scarf from Target, my Susan Graver faux leather jacket , my new dress from Handworks of India, hand made dress by Ware, tights, flats and my Dooney and Bourke handbag.

If I get a little warm I can take the scarf off and and the faux leather jacket and I am ready. The dress is so comfortable and chic and I love the hand embroidery detail of the flower in the dress.

The dress has a tie belt that I tied in the front for more definition in the waist.

This is one of my favorite outfits.

Planning Ahead To Make Memorable Vacations

The leaves are falling!

I have some dream vacations that I would like to take in the near future. Many friends tell me that I need to make sure I plan ahead and do my research. So I started searching the web and came across hotels on sites like venere.com. I have dreams of going to Rome, Italy, and France is also a possibility. The sky is the limit.  My husband and  I have our passports so we can cross that off of the list. We were thinking that we could renew our  wedding vows on our 15th wedding anniversary in a couple of years. Just sharing our own personal vows privately together.  I saw a  vlog of fellow blogger and her husband renew their vows privately and it was really sweet.

I searched the New York Times site and it made me think about where and how I want to travel. When you sit down and think about these questions and write down your responses, it puts your dream trip into perspective. Once my hubby and I decide on the reasons for going on a trip, we start looking at airfares and see what looks like the best deal. When we travelled to the Caribbean a year ago, we looked at ticket prices online and waited it out to see if the prices would go down. After a week of searching, the prices were pretty good. We jumped on the price.  Once you get your ticket you have to plan the trip, it may seem early but it is such a release from stress.

Tips on traveling

  • Do your research and make sure you know why you want to go to a exotic destination
  • Make sure your passports are up to date and all the information you need for your trip.
  • Do not over pack with a lot of extra clothes. I spend time packing because I wanted to make sure I pack what I need  in rolls because I do not want to carry that extra baggage.
  • If you will be on vacation for a week or more please have mail and newspaper delivery is put on hold until you get back
  • Do not carry a lot of jewelry with you. I usually only take the jewelry I have on. I  do not like carrying my expensive jewelry with me because I don’t want anything to come up missing.
  • Make sure  you call your burglar alarm company if you have a security system and let them know that you are going out of town.
In a future post I will show you how I folded my clothes to have more than enough room in my luggage.

DRESS SERIES: Fall Leaves

Oh my, I am smiling from ear to ear because fall is here! It’s nippy outside with a chill in the air. I am ready to break out my boots, jackets, sweaters and tights.  Hold up now, I have to do this in stages because I still do not know how the weather is going to be. But I am really enjoying this so much.

Well let us get to the Dress Series, featuring fall leaves.  It is that time of the year where you want to dress in layers. It may be cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon and cool at night.  The past few days have been chilly all day. I had to break out the leather jacket. When the weather is all over the place, how do you still wear those dresses. Dress in layers!!

The dress I have on below is a summer dress; but the colors scream vibrancy for fall. I paired a black tailored jacket, tights, and my Dooney and Bourke Florentine Vacheeta Leather handbag. I am ready for work or church.

The black jacket is from B Moss that I  bought at least four years ago. I really like the sleek lines and how it cinches in the waist. It is very slimming. I also paired it with black tights to complete the look for fall.

If it happens to be a little warm, I can take off my jacket and be perfectly comfortable, yet still professional. Do you see how the black tree branch curves on the dress and gives the focal point of elongation.

During the transition from summer to fall and winter, try adding a blazer and some tights.
