Miss Tina I really am feeling your designs. I relate to her because I know what it’s like to make my own clothes because I didn’t have a lot of money. I sewed my own baccalaureate and high school graduation dresses so I realized at an early age that sewing my outfits is not only affordable but takes my outfit to another level because I can do my spin on the designs.
In the picture below I made this toile skirt that I can wear with so many tops and tights. It’s a sense of accomplishment when you make your own garment or accessory.
Miss Tina début her line at Walmart in October and most of the clothing prices are not over $20 which is simply amazing. Below is a video of Miss Tina talking about her beginnings as a Seamstress/Designer and the line at Walmart. She designs her line for every woman and I admire her for that effort. All women should be able to wear fashionable clothing no matter what size they are.
Post Script
I will be doing another post on the Miss Tina line because I would like to go to Walmart and see if the line is just as great. I have some pieces of hers when she was on HSN (I will show some of my Miss Tina pieces from HSN in another post) and the quality was excellent so I expect the line at Walmart to be the same.
That skirt is so cool! I wish I could make my own clothes!
Thank you Leia, actually this skirt required a lot of sewing but it was not hard to make. For a graduate class I was taking last year I revamped this pattern and made it into a reversible skirt. It was a more involved than the standard skirt but it turned out really pretty. I do a post on it soon.
Oh my goodness! That skirt is just gorgeous! Was it a pattern and was it easy? I love Tina Knowles and had no idea that she was designing a line of clothes for Walmart. BRILLIANT!! You look absolutely lovely by the way! ~Serene
Thank you Serene, that is such a sweet compliment. The skirt is actually from a vintage 1970 pattern that my Aunt gave me a while back. I looked at it and wondered what I could do with it so I bought some toile fabric and it has become one of my favorites.
Very cute skirt! Nice print 🙂 I actually wasn’t aware that she had her own line of clothing out. She had lots of contemporary + flattering designs in the video and I think it’s great that they can be offered so affordably too. I agree with you whole-heartedly that it’s a true sense of accomplishment when you wear something that you made yourself – the compliments mean so much more too!
Thanks so much for your comment! It’s always nice to meet other classy do-it-yourself-ers that are just doing their own thang, lol. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday!!

Thank you Raven for the compliments, I had a lot of fun making the skirt.
